Criteria for selecting tenants
Kt Oy Tankkari follows these principles when renting apartments to students:
The student must be enrolled in full-time, degree-leading studies in the Kokkola region that are eligible for student financial aid. Progress in studies will be checked when the lease is signed, when it is renewed, and when the right to housing is reviewed. For example, apprenticeship training or additional vocational training do not meet the selection criteria.
Check the definition of full-time study and whether you are eligible for study grant on the Kela website.
Living in student housing requires the resident to be a full-time degree student at a post-secondary educational institution. When studies end or are interrupted, the right to housing ends. The right to housing is monitored regularly either through fixed-term rental agreements or by sending the resident a letter requesting an explanation of their study progress. For high school and secondary school students, a certificate of attendance from the educational institution is sufficient. The right to live in student housing is always reviewed at the beginning of the year.
Priority is given to homeless people and other low-income applicant households with the most urgent housing needs.
Students from abroad and those from outside the local area who start at the beginning of the academic year are given priority in tenant selection process
The date of application is important in comparing applicants, but it is not the only selection criterion.
The aim is to ensure a balanced tenant structure (including fairness between educational institutions) when selecting tenants.
When offering student housing, we do not take into account area preferences based on work or leisure activities.
Please note that we cannot guarantee housing for all applicants in the fall due to the large number of applicants. Your chances of getting housing are better if you are willing to accept housing from a wider area and if you set a higher maximum rent for your application.
