Instructions for Living in a Shared Apartment!
Living in a shared apartment means cohabiting with other tenants. To ensure a pleasant and smooth experience for everyone, all residents must follow common rules and take responsibility for their duties.
1. Shared Spaces and Their Use
- The kitchen, bathroom, and any other shared areas are for everyone’s use, so they must be kept clean.
- Everyone must clean up after themselves immediately after use.
- Garbage must be taken out regularly and recycled properly.
- If something breaks in the apartment or with the fixed furnishings, it must be reported immediately to the maintenance company. This includes doors, windows, taps, drains, appliances, and other permanent fixtures. It’s also good to inform other residents of any damage.
2. Personal Spaces and Property
- All rooms in the shared apartment are furnished: each room must have a bed frame, a desk with a chair, a ceiling lamp, a bookshelf, and a wardrobe. Furniture may not be removed or disposed of. If something breaks, it must be reported immediately to the maintenance company.
- Each resident has their own lockable room, which others are not allowed to enter without permission.
- Everyone’s privacy must be respected.
- Do not borrow others’ belongings without their permission.
3. Cleanliness and Waste Management
- Shared spaces must be kept clean by all residents.
- Agree together on weekly cleaning tasks and taking out the trash.
- Food items should be stored as agreed upon, and spoiled food must be thrown away in time.
- Waste and recyclable materials must be sorted correctly and taken to the appropriate bins. See more detailed recycling instructions on our website: www.tankkari.fi.
4. Quiet Hours and Peaceful Living
- Quiet hours are from 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM. During this time, noise should be kept to a minimum.
- Keep the volume of music and other devices reasonable even during the day.
- Guests are allowed, but the comfort of other residents must be respected.
5. Responsibilities and Rules
- Subletting is strictly forbidden!
- Smoking indoors is prohibited. Proper disposal of cigarette butts is the resident’s responsibility.
- Overnight stays by non-residents are not allowed! The right to live in a shared room belongs only to the person who has signed the lease agreement.
- Apartment doors must always be kept locked to ensure security.
- Any defects or maintenance needs must be reported immediately to the landlord.
- The apartment may not be damaged or renovated without permission.
- Fire safety regulations must be followed. For example, electrical devices must not be left unattended.
- Pets are not allowed in shared apartments!
6. Good Community Spirit and Communication
- Open and friendly communication with fellow residents helps resolve potential disagreements.
- If problems arise, try to solve them through discussion before they escalate.
Shared living works best when everyone follows the rules and respects each other!
